Canada has marked its first National Ribbon Skirt Day to recognize an important symbol in Indigenous culture.
Manitoba Sen. Mary Jane McCallum’s bill to recognize every Jan. 4 passed in Parliament late last year, following the federal government’s formal recognition of Orange Shirt Day in 2021.
