Canada election: Poll worker safety concerns rise due to lack of mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations

As Canada's 44th election campaign kicks off, safety remains top of mind as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

Employees in the federal public service have already been told vaccination against the virus is mandatory. That also applies to employees in the federally regulated air, rail, and marine transportation sectors too.

But Global News has learned that Elections Canada will not be mandating vaccines for volunteers and staff working at poll stations. As Jamie Mauracher reports, its sparking concerns that decision could drive up virus transmission among workers essential to the election.
