The Canadian government is working to determine whether the Proud Boys should be formally designated a terrorist organization.

A spokesperson for Public Safety Minister Bill Blair told Global News the federal government is “gathering the evidence required” to list the group as a terrorist organization.

The Proud Boys, a white nationalist group founded by Canadian Gavin McInnes, was part of the violent mob that stormed the U.S. Capitol.
