Four right-wing extremist groups, including the Proud Boys, have been placed on Canada's list of terrorist organizations amid an apparent crackdown on far-right violence.

Canada is the first country to add the white nationalist group to such a list. The group is seen as central to the deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol. That event contributed to the Canadian government's decision to add the Proud Boys to the list.
