With the holiday season coming up, retail strategists predict Canadians will spend less on holiday gifts this holiday season.

A recent BMO financial report suggests that 78 per cent of Canadians plan to cut back on holiday spending.

“It’s not one size fits all, but the tendency is going to be to pull back,” says DIG360 retail strategist David Ian Gray, adding that he thought retailers may find themselves needing to pull back as well in anticipation of sales dipping.

Between Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Boxing Day, Gray says that a “rolling” series of sales and promotions may allow savvy shoppers to hunt for bargains. Global News' Jaden Lee-Lincoln has the details.
