The community in Pajaro, California, has suffered severe flooding, which has forced 8,500 residents to evacuate their homes.

A levee holding back the nearby river suffered a 120 metre break, and had been known to be a risk after several breaches in the 1990s.

The largely Hispanic farmworker community is now struggling to find food, with many roads and businesses closed.
