Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin spoke on Tuesday about his journey back to the NFL after doctors cleared him to return to the field three-and-a-half months after he suffered a cardiac arrest in a Jan. 2 football game.

"I've been beating statistics my whole life, you know, and some people might say that coming back to play might not be the best option. But that's their opinion... I like my chances here," Hamlin told reporters.

Hamlin collapsed on the field after being struck in the chest by Cincinnati Bengals receiver Tee Higgins. He spent two days in hospital under sedation before being awakened, with doctors saying his recovery was "remarkable."

The Bills reports that Hamlin has been working with three specialists to plan his return.
