British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Sunday that he doesn’t want the Taliban to be “recognized” as the Afghanistan government.

Johnson also called on “like-minded” states to do “whatever we can” to prevent Afghanistan from becoming a “breeding ground for terror,” adding that the U.K. has a “permanent interest” in preventing terror from taking root in the country. He said the U.K. would apply pressure using diplomatic, political and overseas development aid, but said a military solution was not an option.

The British prime minister promised to get as many U.K. citizens as possible out of the country as the Taliban moved into the country’s capital, Kabul.
