As the UK is fighting the new variant of COVID-19, it has finally reached an agreement with the EU on the post-Brexit trade deal, just seven days before the deadline.

Britain's fishing industry representative said they're disappointed that a Brexit trade deal struck with the EU does not represent more of a reduction in the access that the bloc currently has to British waters, while the British opposition leader said the Labour Party will back the “thin” deal once it comes before parliament next week.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said earlier on Thursday that Britain had agreed to a "reasonable" five-and-half-year transition period with the EU over fisheries, longer than the three years it wanted but shorter than the 14 years the EU had originally asked for.
