Brazil's government has declared a public health emergency in the Yanomami territory, which is one of the country's largest indigenous reservations.
Children are reportedly dying from malnutrition and other diseases.
Thousands of illegal gold mining operations have sprung up along the road marked in red, contaminating waterways and killing wild animals.
