Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the UK has recorded the lowest number of daily infections in six months. He said that deaths in the UK are "continuing to fall", but urged caution as England had it's first major easing of lockodwn restrictions. (Subscribe: https://bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
The new restrictions will see people able to meet outside in groups of six and outdoor leisure centres will fully reopen.
Speaking at a UK government press conference, Mr Johnson also warned that the new easing of restrictions will see "more infections and unavoidably more hospitalizations and sadly, more deaths".
A deal has also been reached with pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline to manufacture 60 million doses of its Novavax COVID vaccine in the UK, the prime minister confirmed.
