Next week sees the return of many of us to work but there are fears of widespread absences as Omicron cases continue to set records, with 137,500 new cases recorded in England and Wales today, a slight decrease on yesterday's figures.

The Prime Minister has warned public sector leaders to prepare for the worst case scenario, and make "robust" contingency plans for up to a quarter of workers unable to get to work.
