Blue "supermoon" delights onlookers worldwide

A "supermoon" was seen glowing in the night sky, from the vantage point of cities across the world on Wednesday.

"But today is the first time that I see the moon is so big, almost as if I can grab it with my hands," Trinh Thi Dinh, who watched the supermoon in Hanoi, Vietnam, said.

The supermoon is a phenomenon where the moon appears to be much bigger than usual, as its orbital path is closer to earth and can appear to be about 7 per cent larger and brighter than a typical full moon.

"Blue" moons are the second full moon in a calendar month, but a blue supermoon is a rare phenomenon and the next will be in 2032.
