Blinken: Hamas response ‘creates space’ for truce deal to be reached

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken gives a press conference in Israel, and has given these remarks on his meetings with Israeli officials:

“We had an opportunity to discuss with the Israeli government the response that Hamas sent last night to the proposal that the United States, Qatar and Egypt had put together to bring the remaining hostages home and to extend the humanitarian pause,” he said.

“While there are some clear non-starters in Hamas response, we do think it creates space for agreement to be reached,” he continued, adding that the US will “work at that relentlessly until we get there.”
