U.S. President Joe Biden received his third shot of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine on Monday, days after the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) endorsed booster shots for millions of vulnerable and older Americans.
“I know it doesn’t look like it, but I am over 65. Way over,” Biden joked before rolling up his sleeve to receive the shot.
The president said booster shots are important to keeping Americans protected from COVID-19, including the more contagious Delta variant, but said more important is convincing more Americans to get their first and second shots of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Some 182 million Americans are fully vaccinated, or about 55 per cent of the population.
