US President Joe Biden is putting in place a plan for some undocumented migrants in the US to eventually become citizens, in a reversal of the policies his predecessor Donald Trump enacted.
But many asylum seekers stuck in Mexico are still awaiting their fate.
Migrant advocates have slammed the “Remain in Mexico” policy, which they say exposed thousands of migrants including children to threats of exploitation, kidnapping and sexual assault in border cities controlled by drug cartels.
