U.S. President Joe Biden touted upcoming improvements to NORAD and announced a plan to update the Safe Third Party Agreement as he addressed Canada’s Parliament on Friday.
“It is an incredible symbol of the faith we have in one another,” he said as he spoke about upcoming improvements to NORAD’s radar system, undersea surveillance system and infrastructure.
He also spoke about a plan to update the Safe Third Party Agreement in an effort to stop the irregular border crossings at Roxham Road.
The American president also used his speech to highlight the transition to green technology. He pointed to “enormous opportunities” for Canada and the U.S. to work together on critical mineral mining, semiconductor projects and to build alternative fuel corridors.
Biden ended his address to Parliament with a nod to the Artemis mission. He said NASA would soon announce the crew of the Artemis II mission, which he said would consist of three Americans and one Canadian.
“Canada and the United States can do big things if we do them together,” he said to a standing ovation.
