Fighting in Russia's Belgorod region entered a second day on Tuesday after a rare cross-border incursion of armed fighters in Ukraine. Russia's Defence Ministry said more than 70 "Ukrainian nationalists" had been killed and the rest pushed back in the counter-offence.

Russia has blamed Ukrainian armed groups and launched a terrorism investigation while Ukraine says it had nothing to do with it, and was likely the work of anti-Kremlin insurgents.
