Officials in Tumbler Ridge, B.C. say mother nature has lent a helping hand as fire crews do their best to protect the community against a wildfire burning on its doorstep.

B.C. firefighters, along with volunteers, are working hard on a fire guard and structural protection, in case winds switch again, back towards the town.

Officials say the threat to the community is still very present.

Rumina Day has more on the wildfire situation there as more than 2,000 evacuated residents anxiously wait to see if their homes will be spared.
