Heat warnings across Western Canada are forecast to last through midweek. In June, the B.C. government announced an additional $20 million for a program that offers free air conditioning units. Margaret Wanyoike, a mother of an asthmatic child and a tenant without air conditioning, says her landlord forced her to sign a new lease in order to access the program.
