B.C. health officials say indoor masking encouraged but not mandatory

B.C. Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says she recommends indoor masking in public spaces amid a surge in respiratory illnesses, but says a mask mandate would be too heavy handed. Anna Wolak, a clinical assistant professor of family medicine at the University of B.C., says she's treating more sick kids and argues a mask mandate is needed to alleviate pressures in hospitals.
