प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की अमेरिका यात्रा से पहले रक्षा मंत्रालय ने अमेरिका से तीन अरब डॉलर में 31 प्रीडेटर ड्रोन खरीदने के सौदे को मंजूरी दे दी। भारत के इस ऐलान के साथ ही पाकिस्तानी हुक्मरानों के होश उड़ गए हैं। प्रीडेटर ड्रोन किसी भी मौसम में 35 घंटे तक लगातार उड़ान भर सकता है। और 1900 किलोमीटर एरिया की निगरानी कर सकता है। इसमें लगी मिसाइलों और बम की मदद से दुश्मन को पलक झपकते तबाह किया जा सकता है। ये कितना ख़तरनाक है इसका अंदाज़ा इसी से लगाया जा सकता है कि जबकि पिछले साल जुलाई में अमेरिका ने काबुल में छिपे अल कायदा के सरगना अल जवाहिरी को प्रीडेटर ड्रोन से ही मार गिराया गया था।
