हमास और इज़रायल की लड़ाई में रूस और अमेरिका दोनों अपनी-अपनी गोटियां सेट करने में जुटे हैं। एक ओर अमेरिका खुलकर इज़रायल की तरफ़दारी कर रहा है तो वहीं रूस अभी फूंक-फूंककर कदम बढ़ा रहा है। रूस के राष्ट्रपति व्लादिमिर पुतिन ने इज़रायल के प्रधानमंत्री बेंजामिन नेतन्याहू से फ़ोन पर बात की और जंग के हालात की जानकारी ली। पुतिन ने नेतन्याहू के हमले बंद करने की अपील की, जिसे नेतन्याहू ने ये कहते हुए ख़ारिज कर दिया कि हमले तब तक जारी रहेगा, जब तक हमास मिट्टी में नहीं मिल जाता। नेतन्याहू के बाद पुतिन ने फिलिस्तीन के राष्ट्रपति महमूद अब्बास से भी बात की।
