At least five skiers have been killed and nine others injured after an avalanche rolled down a mountain in the French Alps on Sunday.
Eyewitness video filmed from Les Contamines-Montjoie ski resort showed the avalanche.
Those caught up in it were backcountry skiing in the mountains, said Emmanuel Coquand, spokesperson for the local authorities of Haute-Savoie, adding that they were still confirming the identity of the victims.
