Australia is observing its National Day - with celebrations and protests.
January 26 marks the day the British Empire's First Fleet arrived in present-day Sydney in 1788 to create a penal colony.
A growing number of Australians say the holiday should be scrapped. They argue colonisation led to oppression, abuse and genocide of the Indigenous people.
Some critics want the date changed.
Rallies have been taking place against the oppression of the Indigenous people.
