Sudan's army chief has promised a harsh response after an attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, left more than 100 people dead on Wednesday.

A group of activists in Wad Al Noura village say the army did not respond to cries for help, when the attack was being carried out.

Abdel Fattah al Burhan visited the capital of Al Jazira state, which has become the latest flashpoint in nearly 14 months of fighting.
