Europe is now the epicentre of the coronavirus pandemic - with countries seeing record-high case counts and shortages of intensive care beds.
Following Austria's announcement of a new full national lockdown and compulsory vaccinations, other Western European countries are also considering additional measures to combat rising infections.
The French health minister is pushing booster vaccinations for all adults and Germany is considering compulsory vaccinations for at least some professions.
The World Health Organization has warned that there will be "high or extreme" stress on intensive care units in almost all European countries by March.
