It's been almost six years since Canada legalized cannabis across the country and there's new data from Statistics Canada looking at where Canadians are buying their products.
The data found that more than one third of those 18-44 and one in seven adults 45 and older used cannabis in 2023, and among those who had, 71.7 per cent bought exclusively from legal sources. Product safety was among the biggest reason, with convenience and a desire to follow the law also cited.
As Sean Previl reports, cannabis advocates say the data is "exciting," but some health-care professionals are concerned more study into the products' affects on the body still needs to be done.
