Algeria observed a national day of morning after wildfires killed at least 65 people. 28 of those who died were soldiers deployed to help fight the flames. France and Morocco have pledged to send water planes to Algeria.

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune announced the arrest of 22 suspects for arson, saying that "the majority of fires are of criminal origin," in a speech on state television.
