Arriving for the day's proceedings in his trial on Tuesday, conspiracy theorist Alex Jones referred to the proceedings as a "travesty" and a "weaponization of the judiciary." Jones is on trial to determine how much he owes families of victims who died in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School mass shooting, which he falsely claimed was a hoax.

The trial concerns only how much Jones and the parent company of his Infowars site must pay in damages for spreading lies that the U.S. government staged the killing of 20 children and six staff members as a pretext for seizing guns.

Jones is not expected to testify during the day but is slated to speak at a news briefing in the early afternoon. He did speak briefly to reporters outside the Connecticut Superior Court as he arrived in the morning.

"This is a kangaroo court. This is a show trial," he declared, while not standing far from the site of the shooting, "and the whole thing is a fraud from end to end."
