Days ahead of the first elections in Jammu and Kashmir, the Union Territory, Home Minister Amit Shah has attacked what he called the Gupkar gang. The Gupkar alliance wants Jammu and Kashmir’s special status reinstated and its restoration as a state. Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti hit out at Mr Shah, saying the attack was linked to their decision to contest the polls.
