The US Justice Department is launching an investigation into policing in the city of Minneapolis, a day after former police officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty of murdering a Black man, George Floyd.
US Attorney General Merrick Garland announced the Justice Department would launch a thorough probe into the Minneapolis Police Department’s policing practices.
Garland said systemic abuses within the police force had to be rooted out.
