At least 500 artefacts have been recovered from smugglers, and put on display at Afghanistan’s National Museum.
The century-old museum was once considered one of the world’s finest but was devastated by decades of conflict.
At one point, smugglers had looted 70 percent of its collection.
Al Jazeera’s Alexandra Byers reports.
