President Joe Biden spoke Thursday after explosions in Kabul, Afghanistan killed multiple people, including members of the U.S. military, telling those responsible that the U.S. "would hunt you down and make you pay."

Biden said they believe the Islamic State group was behind the attack and he would grant the military additional troops and resources if they requested it.

The president said the "situation on the ground is still evolving" and that he was "outraged and heartbroken."

Gen. Frank McKenzie, the head of U.S. Central Command, has confirmed at least 12 service members were killed, and 15 were injured.

A U.S. official told The Associated Press the suspected suicide bombing attack was "definitely believed" to have been carried out by the Islamic State group, whose affiliate in Afghanistan grew out of disaffected Taliban members that hold an even more extreme view of Islam.
