The Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan has died at the age of 65.

The singer-songwriter was best known for the Christmas hit Fairytale of New York, which was a duet with the late Kirsty MacColl.

MacGowan's wife, Victoria Mary Clarke, paid tribute to her husband as the "love of my life" and "the most beautiful soul".
