For many Canadians, Americans and those around the world, Sept. 11, 2001 is a day etched in their minds and hearts, with people often able to tell you where they were when the tragic day began to unfold.
But for those born between 1997 and 2012, the generation often referred to as "Gen Z," the events hit differently. Those under the age of 25 weren't yet born when 9/11 happened or are too young to remember it. Some learned about the events from their family members, in school or in learning about the various restrictions that came into play as a result. But as they've grown, they have also experienced other terror attacks like the Manchester bombing or Paris attacks and some have even been the victims of personal attacks based on ignorance.
As Anne Gaviola explains, while much of this generation did not experience 9/11 first-hand, the impact of the attack is still felt.
