2030 World Cup: Unique tournament to be held on three continents

The head of South America's football confederation says he's happy that the World Cup "will be played again where it all began".

CONMEBOL President Alejandro Dominguez welcomed FIFA's announcement on Wednesday, that the 2030 tournament will be hosted by Morocco, Portugal and Spain - but with opening games in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.

All six nations will get automatic entry to the 48 team tournament, which is being held on three continents for the first time.

And it's the South American leg that's set to kick off the 100-year celebration of the World Cup, with the opening match being played in the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo where the first World Cup final was held, back in 1930.
