A Russian missile strike on a marketplace in the village of Shevchenkove in the Kharkiv region of Ukraine on Tuesday has killed two women and wounded four others, including a 10-year-old girl, local officials said.
Rescue workers sifted through piles of rubble, overturned, burnt out stalls and destroyed shops on Monday.
"Emergency workers and police recovered the body on one woman from under the rubble, the other woman died in hospital, unfortunately. There is a child among the casualties, we hope the girl will survive," General Volodymyr Timoshko, head of Kharkov region police said.
Local officials claim the damage was the result of an S-300 missile launched from Russia's Belgorod region.
Russia did not immediately comment on the reports from the village, which Kyiv recaptured from Moscow in September.
