Sixteen members of the Orange County Sheriff's Office were injured on Wednesday following an explosion during an exercise at a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) training facility in Irvine, Calif.

None of the injuries were life-threatening, but one SWAT (Special Weapons and Training) team member will require surgery on their leg, Sgt. Frank Gonzalez of the Orange County Sheriff's Office said.

The FBI was not involved with the exercise at the facility, which is frequently used for firearms training and testing by local law enforcement, authorities said.

Details about the explosion are under investigation, Gonzalez added.
