4 injured in Brazil after gas explosion at apartment building

Four people were injured on Sunday in Brazil's Sao Paulo state, after a leak in an apartment kitchen resulted in an explosion that left 10 apartment units damaged, with the walls being blown out of several on at least one side of the building.

According to local reports, two of the victims suffered 70 per cent burns in the blast, with the other two only receiving minor injuries.

Sao Paulo state civil defence co-ordinator Wander Vieira said officials were inspecting the building to verify if the area adjacent to the explosion is safe so that those impacted can take their belongings. But he said at this time, nobody is being allowed inside the building.
