“Navalny” offers an intimate look at Putin's biggest critic

Canadian filmmaker Daniel Roher talks to "The Morning Show" hosts Jeff McArthur and Carolyn MacKenzie about his documentary “Navalny,” a gripping behind-the-scenes look at Putin critic Alexei Navalny’s fight against authoritarianism and corruption in Russia.

Navalny, 46, was arrested in January 2021 on returning to Moscow after recuperating in Germany from nerve-agent poisoning that he blamed on the Kremlin. He said Wednesday that he is also facing new extremism and terrorism charges that could keep him behind bars for life.

Roher talks about the fight for justice for Navalny, and his Oscar win for best documentary feature.
