It has been third time unlucky again for billionaire Elon Musk's attempts at a successful test flight of his latest rocket prototype.
Starship rocket SN10 exploded a day after applications opened for the first commercial flight to the moon.
The rocket soared into the sky in a high-altitude test on Wednesday from Boca Chica in Texas, then flew itself back to Earth and manoeuvred into its first – successful – upright landing.
But about eight minutes later it blew itself to pieces, lurching into the air and crashing back to the ground.
