‘Democracy’s day’: Joe Biden sworn in as US president

Joe Biden has been sworn in as president of the United States, pledging to unite a deeply divided nation reeling from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kamala Harris was also sworn in, making her the first female, Black and Asian-American vice president to historically assume the post.
Biden took the oath of office on Wednesday during a scaled-down inauguration due to the coronavirus, which has killed more than 400,000 people in the US.
Former President Donald Trump snubbed the ceremony leaving the White House earlier in the day and flying to Florida.
