The central government today withdrew its decision to reduce the interest rate on small savings for the April-June quarter. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman gave this information by tweeting. However, she came under attack from the opposition for changing her decision. Interest rates on Public Provident Fund (PPF), Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY), National Savings Certificate were cut by 6.4 per cent, 6.9 per cent and 5.9 per cent respectively on an annual basis.
