Chinese President Xi Jinping told his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Thursday that China was willing to work with Russia to "inject stability and positive energy into a world in turmoil."
At their first face-to-face meeting since Russia’s war in Ukraine began, Xi said he was very happy to meet "my old friend" again after Putin said attempts by the United States to create a unipolar world would fail.
"We jointly advocate the formation of a just, democratic and multipolar world order based on international law and the central role of the UN," Putin said during the meeting at a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
