Jeanette Robinson-Daley was at an exhibit at the Art Gallery of Ontario, featuring photographs of Black life across North America, when she saw a Polaroid of her father.
Though it was taken before she was born, she recognized everything immediately — the drapery, the wallpaper, the TV set and the man holding a trumpet and wearing a fedora with a hatband that matched his vest.
She had seen many Polaroids like it in the family collection, but she has no idea how this one, taken sometime in the late 1960s or early 1970s, found its way into an art exhibit.
Global’s Brittany Rosen has more.
