Wilding pines are one of our most invasive plant pests – relentlessly marching across the country’s landscape. These self-sown pines put our biodiversity at risk, suck up a lot of water and, like a virus, they're hard to beat.
In Central Otago, efforts to get them under control are ramping up. And this year, with high summer temperatures predicted, they're also an increasing threat when it comes to fire risk.
