India's judicial system is in a dire state. There are currently 50 million cases that have not been resolved. A recently published book, 'Court on Trial', is highly critical of this backlog. According to the book, the average case in the Supreme Court can take up to 13 and a half years to reach a conclusion, with the top court's proceedings accounting for around one-third of this time. DW spoke to one of the book's authors to have a deeper look at the issue.
