कर्नाटक में पांच दिनों के मंथन के बाद कांग्रेस ने सिद्धारमैया को कर्नाटक के नए मुख्यमंत्री और डीके शिवकुमार को डिप्टी सीएम के रूप में चुन लिया. ये दोनों नेता 20 मई को बेंगलुरु के कांटीरवा स्टेडियम में शपथ लेंगे. वहीं, कांग्रेस की तरफ से सिद्धारमैया के सीएम बनने की घोषणा के कुछ घंटों बाद 'द इकोनॉमिक टाइम्स' की एक रिपोर्ट में दावा किया कि डीके शिवकुमार की 'कट्टर हिंदू' वाली छवि के लिए सीएम पद को लेकर उन्हें कांग्रेस आलाकमान का समर्थन नहीं मिला.
