As rumors of a possible election continue to swirl in Ottawa, Canada's Infrastructure and Communities Minister Catherine McKenna has announced that she will not be seeking re-election.
McKenna was elected to the riding of Ottawa Centre in 2015 and served as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s environment minister during his first term, handling the government’s national climate action plan, which included imposing a price on carbon emissions. But she also faced vitriol and hate during her time in office, both in her previous role and in her current one.
Now she says she aims to focus on family as well as taking action on climate change in the future.
